Across The Bridge

I see a bridge that’s spanning
This river flowing free
I can hear the sound of love songs
Wondering if they are for me

I listen to the music
At surrounding beauty I do gaze
My love is shining for you
Just like those moonlit rays

For those waters look so peaceful
But they can hold a terror deep
As they flow out to the ocean
Their secrets they do keep

With a bridge across these waters
I don’t care what is below
For I am on the one side
And on the other is my beau

But with this bridge of love between us
I should never hold a fear
For I know you will protect me
And always hold me near

If I cross that bridge to meet you
Will you shield me from all harm
Will you promise that you’ll love me
Will you hold me in your arms

The bridge is like my love dear
For it joins me now to you
Keeping me safe from racing waters
No matter what they do

I can walk across so freely
To remain there by your side
And spend my lifetime with you
With no need to say goodbye
