The Captain Of My Ship

God is the Captain of my ship,
He controls the vessel of my life,
His hands are on the helm; steady,
He steers through calm and strife.

His breath is the wind in the sails,
His love is the rudder in the sea,
God's vision sees the hazards,
He keeps this sailing ship e'er free.

There is not a wave big enough,
Nor winds blowing from a gale,
Big enough to sink this ship,
My God is Master of the sail.

I need no lighthouse to guide me,
For the light emits from my ship,
He feels the vibrations of the hull,
He gently quiets the cries from my lips.

I know I'll reach the harbor safely,
For upon God, my Captain I depend,
He steers me safely through the sea of life,
Leaving placid waters where I've been.

I am on a definite heavenly course,
His mansion is my final destination,
I'll make it through the storms of life,
God the Captain is my secured Salvation.
