~Days We Live In~

Gentle ebb and flow, daylight comes and goes
On the trail of work and love,
From rising dawn, to starry night,
The walk of life is done.

But, with stealth, suddenly an arrow strikes
To shatter what has been,
Cold, to bleed upon life's river bank,
Kidnapped, the life as dreamed.

Oh, the yearning then to whirl about,
Turn back the gash of time,
River raging, ceaseless flow,
Concealed the bridge to find.

Screaming anger, silent fear,
Fight the howl, then run,
In thunder from the raven skies,
What and where and who is love.

In pain withdraw, immerse within
The knife of searing loss,
Dark clouds, the brooding agony,
Such grief will not be quashed.

Spirit anguish, depths unknown,
In blast of harsh cold wind,
Crippling heartache, burden, clipped,
The past of soaring wing.

Deep secrets of the heaven's cry,
What power meets this need,
How speeds the light ahead
To ease the aching grief.

This crippling dread that grips the soul,
This fear that drains the heart,
Stealing kinship, loving bond,
Forbidding joy upon the path.

The heart be stilled, to hearken yet,
Be stripped of turbulence,
Lift face to sky, cease endless why,
Seek for a greater strength.

A calming patience must come forth
For consultation, prayer,
To ponder on a higher thought,
Another way prepare.

The God of all will come with peace
For a friend can't bear the gall,
He grants the secret wisdom
To lift from valley floor.

The sure foundation, God's own mind,
His peace be where is drawn,
The solace, comfort of the soul
To rise upon the dawn.

The toilsome pleading, He will hear
To light this unknown way,
The promise of His love displayed
E'er lift the dark dismay.

He alone, the heart renews
So nothing strips a soul,
This God who holds each feeble breath
Will keep the spirit whole.

Though faint of heart and heavy limbed,
Life's borne by trading His,
When will is gone to bear the trail
There walks the life He is.

Poetry from the Heart

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with
my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

HE that dwells in the secret place
of the most High
shall rest/abide under the
shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD,
He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in Him will I trust.
Surely He shall deliver you from
the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome pestilence.
He will cover you with His feathers,
and under His wings you will find refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You will not be afraid of the terror by night;
nor of the arrow that flies by day;
Nor the pestilence that
stalks in darkness;
nor the destruction that
destroys at noonday.
Psalm 91:1-6
