Harvest Of Plenty
Summer will soon come to an end.
Already vines of grapes purple and green,
Shiny and sweet to the taste,
Have started to bend.

Pears are made into pear preserves,
Apples made into apple butter,
Peaches are already in the freezer,
For ice cream and homemade cobblers.

Vegetables are ripe unto harvest,
There are tomatoes red and tasty,
New potatoes dug for early dishes,
Cooked whole with white cream gravy.

The Lord is so good to us,
He knows what we need,
From wheat for our bread,
To honey, from the bees.

Figs will soon be harvested,
And gardening will come to an end,
And we will find more free time,
As Fall and Winter then begin.

The hay crop is almost over,
There may be another cut or two,
But mostly depends on the rain,
That God sends to you.

There is much work at harvest time,
But so blessed are we,
To know we can work and grow the food,
To feed our families.
