A Child's Prayer

I stood quietly as this precious one,
Began her nightly prayer.
A prayer so simple and sincere,
None other does compare.

"God bless Mommy and Daddy too",
She whispered soft and sweet.
"God please bless all my family,
And thanks for what we eat".

She thanked Him for the moon and stars,
The flowers and the trees.
For the puppy dog that loves her,
A thank you just for me.

Prayed as if He was beside her,
Like talking to her Dad.
Told Him she was so sorry that,
If ever she was bad.

She told Him that she loved Him,
And then she said "goodnight".
I felt tears within my eyes as,
I kissed and held her tight.
